Community Recovery Counseling Center, PLLC was born out of two visions. Dr. Mark Vander Meer had the vision of offering counseling along side the support groups of Community Recovery. Kristina Wessels started her practicum at Community Recovery in the Fall of 2010 which continued into internship through Spring 2011. Dr. Vander Meer saw the administrative strengths in Kristina and asked her if she was willing to be director of a counseling center. Kristina talked it over with her husband, Denver, and discovered that her private practice will be ministry-oriented which was her vision.
Upon discussions with her future supervisor, Dr. Robert Lehman, LPC, Kristina opened Community Recovery Counseling Center, PLLC on July 26th, 2011. The office for CRCC is located inside New Community Church of West Michigan on Dean Lake. Close to 200 clients have walked through these doors to seek mental health services from Kristina and interns from various universities. The journey has been exciting from struggling to get clients to know receiving referrals from Wedgwood Christian Services and Spectrum Health.
CRCC offers an income-based sliding scale that is available to all clients. CRCC also offer flat-rate fees for individual and family counseling. CRCC continues to grow and is currently looking for space to accommodate for a range of interns and clients. These are exciting times for CRCC and Community Recovery as they support the community of Greater Grand Rapids.
